Flagbearer of Nepali Language music in India- Singer Songwriter Bipul Chettri

Singer songwriter Bipul Chettri took to music at a very young age. His father, after retiring from the Indian army started his career as a musician and that rubbed on to Bipul. Growing up in Kalimpong which has a number of convent schools, Chettri was surroundeded with choirs and carols and that served as a major influence for his songwriting. It took him a while to find his musical identity and during the time he dabbled into many genres including American Jazz. His first single "Wildfire" was released 9 years ago and it became a huge success much to the suprise of the singer songwriter. Since then he has been releasing music in English and the Nepali language.

Before the pandemic hit, Chettri and his band lived the typical musician life. The singer songwriter toured the US, Australia in 2019, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, the UAE and Nepal and al parts of India. In the Nepali language speaking Indian regions of North Bengal and Sikkim, Nepal, and to the Nepali diaspora around the world, Bipul Chettri is a household name.

Apart from being a musician Chettri serves as the head of the Arts Department at the Vasant Valley School in New Delhi. He joined the institute as a music teacher back in 1999.
