Here's all you need to know about the Jodhpur Rajasthani International Folk Festival

The Jodhpur Rajasthani International Folk Festival (RIFF) is a five day extravaganza showcasing and celebrating the rich musical heritage of Rajasthan, Indian and global folk music. Hosted at the iconic Mehrangarh Fort, this year the festival will be held from October 6-10. After a two year hiatus the 13th edition of the Jodhpur RIFF will feature as many as 250 artists from across the globe mesemerising the audience. Here are a few acts from this years Jodhpur RIFF that you wouldnt want to miss

Sumitra Devi

A folk stalwart Sumitra Devi has been performing not only in India but internationally and has collaborated with famed artists like Yuni Honing Trio and Mumford and Sons. This year she will accompany other female artists to revisit the place of women in folk music.

Tabor

European Gypsy ensemble Tabor is known to enthrall their audience through traditional roots music representing the Gypsy culture. The songs performed by the ensemble are the ones performed at their homes since centuries and thwerefore they evoke a strong sense of nostalgia amongst their audience.

Citadel of the Sun

A collaborative project between Rajasthani and Irish musicians supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and the British Council.

Sawan Khan

Hailing from the Manganiyar community of Rajasthan, Sawan Khan is an acclaimed Sufi musician. Music runs in his family for generations, his ancetors have perfomed in the royal courts He has performed all across the globe and has worked with stalwarts like AR Rahman.

Riff Cohen

Tel Aviv based acoustic rock artist Riff Cohen is a singwer-songwriter who performs in Arabic, French and Hebrew. She is known to experiment with various genres including French Pop, Avant-Garde, traditional North African music and classic rock.

Indie Acts

For the first time Jodhpur RIFF has scheduled a dedicated slot for indie artists. This year two talented indie will perform at the festival, Bawari Basanti and Harpreet Singh.

RIFF Rustle

The grand finale of the festival will witness a "jam" between Rhys Sebastian, saxophonist of Bombay Brass and ace drummer Jehangir Jehangir.
