The underworld has influenced stories of Bollywood in many ways. Right from the early 2000s, when the underworld was on the rise in Mumbai, filmmakers started to explore their stories in movies. 1) Company (2002)Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Company was based on the eventual fallout between Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan, played by Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi.

3) Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007)Having an ensemble cast of Vivek Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt and Amitabh Bachchan, Shootout At Lokhandwala was based on the life of Maya Dolas, who was a close-aide of Dawood Ibrahim at one time.

4) Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai (2010)This film was loosely based on the rise of Dawood in the city to become a dreaded gangster. Emraan Hashmi played the role of the gangster in the film while Ajay Devgan essayed the role of Haji Mastan.

5) D-Day (2013)A completely novel and fictionalised take on the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, D-Day is an action-thriller. Rishi Kapoor plays the role of a character inspired from Dawood Ibrahim.
