Ever since the advent of OTT services, it has opened a new gateway of entertainment for audiences, who can now choose to enjoy films from the comfort of their homes. Although there is no comparison with the feeling of solidarity that a theater induces, the option of OTT has diversified storytelling.
Not only do viewers have an option, but even makers can now choose to directly release a film on OTT if they feel it is not as viable for a theatrical release. In 2023, many films directly came on OTT platforms and were loved by everyone all over.
Here is a list of five OTT film releases that caught everyone`s attention in 2023:
1) Kathal
Starring the ever-brilliant Sanya Malhotra, this dark comedy found many takers when it was released in May on Netflix. Kathal is a strange tale of a policewoman`s quest to find a politician`s jackfruits that disappeared from his garden.
It blends comedy with some satire to bring out the social reality of India. Apart from Sanya Malhotra, Kathal features Rajpal Yadav and Vijay Raaz in prominent roles.

2) Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai
Manoj Bajpayee`s Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai set an unlikely precedent. It had its direct release on Zee5 due to its distinct subject matter, and upon its release, it was so widely seen that the film had to be released in theaters. This was the first time a film was released in theaters after it became popular on OTT.
Manoj Bajpayee`s terrific performance as a lawyer was loved by everyone as he became a household name for his endearing appeal.
3) Bloody Daddy
Another film that could have worked very well in theaters but whose makers didn`t want to take the chance was this Shahid Kapoor thriller. Filled with great action and visuals, along with some whacky black humor, Bloody Daddy was an unexpected gem.
