Akshay Kumar Votes for The First Time After Regaining His Indian Citizenship
Earlier this morning, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan actor Akshay Kumar cast his vote for the Lok Sabha elections. This marks the first time that the actor has voted after regaining his Indian citizenship in August 2023. He was one of the earliest voters at the centre who turned up at 7 a.m. to vote.
Talking to the reporters at the booth, Akshay Kumar shared his sentiments after putting in his vote. He said, “Mera Bharat viksit rahe, and bas ussi ko dimag mein rakhte hue maine vote kiya. Ussi hisaab se poora Bharat vote kare, jo unke dimaag mein sahi lage.” (I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. India should vote for what they deem right.)
Akshay Kumar also commented on the turnout from his constituency. He said, “I feel people will come out in large numbers this time and vote. When I reached the polling booth at 7 a.m., I saw around 500–600 people inside. So, I am sure it will only be good.”
While leaving the polling booth, Akshay Kumar commented on how good it feels to cast a vote in your own country, saying, “I am feeling very good, and it is a nice feeling to be able to cast my vote.”

Although he did get Canadian citizenship, his films like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Aitraaz were box office successes. The actor later gave multiple hits and reapplied for Indian citizenship in 2019.
In a previous interview, Akshay Kumar commented on getting back his Indian citizenship. He said, “India is everything to me... Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained, is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything.”
Akshay Kumar was last seen in Sukumaran’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alongside Tiger Shroff. The film did not do well at the box office. According to reports, the actor recently wrapped up filming for Jolly LLB 3, where he will star alongside Arshad Warsi.
