Alia Bhatt at Manish Malhotra`s Diwali Party
Alia Bhatt, known for her chic style and sustainable fashion choices, once again proved why she’s a trendsetter. On October 22, she attended designer Manish Malhotra`s star-studded Diwali bash, and fans couldn`t stop raving about her outfit. However, it wasn’t just any regular outfit—it was her mehendi lehenga from her wedding, showcasing her continued dedication to sustainability in fashion.
Malhotra had shared the painstaking details behind the creation on Instagram, describing it as "a treasure of traceability and trust." The intricate embroidery, done over 3000 hours by the women of Mijwan, is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship, using Kashmiri and Chikankari threads.
For the Diwali party, Alia accessorised her lehenga with gold and cut diamond Chandbalis, a matching ring, kadhas, and a beautifully embroidered clutch. She completed the look with gold peep-toe block heels. Keeping her hair simple yet elegant, she styled it in a side-parted coiffed updo, letting the outfit remain the highlight of the night.
The lehenga’s intricate design carries symbolic elements of Alia’s memories, with patches from her earlier outfits and vintage detailing from the Manish Malhotra Archives. The designer revealed how the garment was woven together using couture techniques like cross-stitches with three and six tar anchors.
This isn`t the first time Alia Bhatt has repeated an outfit from her wedding wardrobe. She had previously re-worn her Sabyasachi Mukherjee wedding saree while receiving the National Award for Best Actress for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2023.
A Nostalgic Outfit Choice
Alia arrived at the event alongside her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, and caught everyone`s attention by rewearing her iconic Manish Malhotra lehenga, which she had originally donned for her mehendi ceremony in 2022. The pink lehenga set, made out of approximately 180 textile patches, is a masterpiece designed by Malhotra himself, reflecting elements from Alia’s personal journey.Malhotra had shared the painstaking details behind the creation on Instagram, describing it as "a treasure of traceability and trust."
