Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik was recently knighted with Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. The prestigious honor comes amid her incredible contribution to the world of music.
Soon after receiving the award, the legendary singer expressed her heartfelt gratitude and how it has been a challenging time for her health-wise. She also opened up about her prolonged absence from the public eye.
For the uninitiated, Yagnik was diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder in 2024, which occurred after she stepped off a flight.

Sharing a picture of herself receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan from the President of India, the singer wrote a rather lengthy caption.
She started her caption with, "For the last two years, I have stayed away from the spotlight, from public appearances, and from sharing much of my journey. Many of you knew I was going through difficult health, and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way."

Speaking about receiving the esteemed honor after a challenging period of hardships. Yagnik mentioned this moment was deeply humbling and emotional, since it represented not just her body of work but also unwavering support from her fans and audience.

"I accept it with immense humility and respect."

Alka Yagnik is one of the few Bollywood playback singers who holds the record of singing the maximum number of female solo songs in her career, alongside Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.
