The film is having a remake! It is yet in the pre-production stage, the makers of the film are yet to be decided.
The film is being produced by the original producer`s grandson, Sameer Raj Sippy and Vikram Khakhar. The film has gained a cult following over the years because of its heart-touching screenwriting. The film revolves around the character Anand Saigal(essayed by Rajesh Khanna) who is at his death-bed, he encourages the doctors around him to live to the fullest. Anand wants to make the best out of his remaining time.
Speaking about the project, the produce Vikram Khakkhar “Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, Internationally or Regionally. Placing Anand in the post Covid era, where we emphasise on the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand.”
The producer Sameer Raj Sippy added that stories like these need to be narrated to the new generation. He said, “Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to be retold the many stories that are so relevant today and specially when there is a great appetite for good content.
