With an epic Hollywood battle Johnny Depp vs Amber heard coming to an end, we may have another one starting soon. Brad Pitt recently sued his ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her stake in the French vineyard they invested in together.
Accusing her of seeking to "inflict harm," the actress sold her 50% of shares to a Russian tyrant ith "poisonous associations and intentions." After purchasing the Chateau Miraval in 2008, the couple got married there six years later. Pitt says his ex-wife agreed not to sell her part of shares without the consent of the other.
However, looks like Jolie did not stand up to her words and ended up selling her part of the vineyard to a Russian tyrant`s spirt manufacturing company. She hasn`t confirmed it yet.
The Oscar-winning actor`s attorney said the Chateau Miraval, which comprises of a home and a vineyard, has become Pitt`s passion project and under his intricate guidance, it has bloomed into a "multimillion-dollar international success story."
The legal s filed in Los Angeles on Thursday read Pitt ensured the profitability of "one of the world`s most highly regarded producers of rose wine."
"She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt`s investment in Miraval," the lawsuit claimed. The lawyers also added that Angelina`s move caused "gratuitous harm" who had given his all and, "poured money and sweat equity into the wine business".
Nestled in the village of Correns in south-east France, the Miraval estate was apparently purchased by the couple for 25 million euros (INR 1.94 billion). The two successful Hollywood actors dated for 10 years before tying a knot in 2014. In 2016, the actress filed for a divorce and ended their marriage in 2019.
"I separated for the well-being of my family. It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people," she stated the reason for divorcing Pitt.
In January 2021, Jolie "informed Pitt in writing" about her reaching a "painful decision with a heavy heart" to sell her share of vineyard to Russian dictator Yur Shefler. Brad Pitt`s lawyers have requested for a jury trial.
