A storm has erupted in the Indian film industry as singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh faces a potential ban over his upcoming production, Sardaar Ji 3. The controversy stems from the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, leading to a significant backlash amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Despite the furore, Dosanjh is pushing forward, promoting the film for its global release.
BN Tiwari, the President of FWICE, stated, "There will be complete non-cooperation. If the film releases anywhere, we will issue a directive of non-cooperation. We will ensure that Diljit Dosanjh won`t get work (films or concerts) in any part of India." He firmly added, "If he doesn`t withdraw the release of the film, he won`t get work in India."
Echoing this sentiment, AICWA posted on X, "We hereby announce a complete boycott of singer and producer Diljit Dosanjh from the Indian film industry." The post urged all Indian producers and companies to refrain from professional association with the actor. Furthermore, FWICE has formally requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny a censor certificate to the film.

Despite the severe backlash and calls for a ban, Dosanjh remains focused on the international release of Sardaar Ji 3. The film, a horror-comedy also starring Neeru Bajwa, is slated for an overseas-only release on June 27. The trailer, which is geo-blocked in India, shows Dosanjh and Aamir as ghost hunters in the United Kingdom. This decision to bypass an Indian theatrical release underscores the tense climate, yet Dosanjh’s promotional activities signal his commitment to his project and his global audience.
