Bollywood director Luv Ranjan`s next directorial starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor attracts yet another controversy. Fire broke out on the sets of the movie and one of the workers there succumbed to death. Following their shoot schedule in Spain, the director-actors trio kicked-off the shoot in Mumbai a couple of days ago. However, that had to be halted due to an unbelievable mishap.
A 32-year-old worker Manish Devashi, who was working on the sets of Luv Ranjan, was killed by the deadly fire. Massive smoke was seen erupting out of Chitrakoot Ground in Andheri West, Mumbai, on Friday. It caught attention of several onlookers and that`s when one man was brought dead at the Cooper Hospital in Juhu. General Secretary of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), Ashok Dubey said, another man who was fixing the lights suffered several injuries.
FWICE General Secretary said, “There was no shoot going on when this incident occurred. One person lost his life. A film unit has 800-1000 workers and technicians, what if the mishap happened when the shoot was on? For the past 4-5 years, we have written letters to CM and fire authorities that proper investigations should be conducted at such places."
"These accidents are happening repeatedly. The one who built this studio floor had made two other studios that have been burnt to ashes in Bangur Nagar area in Goregaon West. We are now writing to the producers` body that they must check whether a fire audit has been done before booking studio floors. The federation is issuing notices to producers` body and production houses and also the chief minister stating that such unauthorised structures should be permitted to function without a fire audit and NOC. In the absence of fire audit and NOC, the federation will ask workers and technicians not to work at such studios," he further added.
Another Bollywood film set that may have suffered such a fire incident was the one of Rajshri Productions. The makers of the film are yet to release an official statement.
