Alia Bhatt, one of the reigning actresses in Bollywood, is on top of the world when it comes to her personal and professional life. In 2019, Alia was riding high on success with movies like Raazi and Gully Boy. While she was acing the movies bit, on the personal front, she was struggling with bouts of anxiety,
This is a fashback from 2019 when Alia Bhatt got candid about her battle with anxiety. She said, “I haven’t been depressed but I’ve had bouts of anxiety. It comes and goes. It’s been happening quite a bit since the past five to six months. It’s not like an anxiety attack but I just feel low. Thankfully, I’m aware of it because of my sister Shaheen. She’s fought depression. I’ve read her book. No matter how bad it is, I just let myself feel it.”
She also added that sometimes, she’d feel like breaking down or crying but that feeling wouldn’t last for long. “Initially, I’d be a little confused. I’d constantly give reasons that it’s because of work or maybe I’m tired or haven’t been able to meet anyone,” the mommy-to-be said.
Alia spoke to her friends and family members who advised her to accept and allow herself to feel it. “I spoke to friends about it. I spoke to Ayan about it, I spoke to my sister’s friend Rohan (Joshi). Everyone told me that you’ve got to realise that it will go away. What’s important is to accept it and not say that you’re fine. If you’re not feeling fine, then you should just say you’re not feeling fine,” said the actress.
Well, Alia Bhatt isn’t the first Bollywood actress to openly and vulnerably speak about mental health issues. In the past, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Parineeti Chopra spoke about their tough times, thus normalizing the societal stigma.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Brahmastra alongside husband Ranbir Kapoor. The couple is expecting their first child this year. She will be seen next in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.
