Jiah Khan Suicide Case: The Verdict

After hearing the final arguments, the CBI court acquitted Sooraj Pancholi reasoning `paucity of evidence` in the case. The court also mentioned to Rabia Khan`s lawyer that she has the right to appeal against the judgment.

Amidst the case and hearings, Sooraj took to his Instagram stories and shared a cryptic post that read, "The truth always wins." Have a look.

On the contrary, before the verdict was announced, Jiah Khan`s mother Rabia said, "Let’s see what court comes up after ten years. I want truth to be installed Jiah Khan did not take her own life We have spent 10 years exposing the truth based on factual evidence. Now it is up to the court to draw the right conclusions."

Jiah Khan Suicide Case: What Actually Happened

A S Sayyad, the court judge of the Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) heard the final arguments last week. He has reserved his judgments in the case. Jiah Khan (25) was found hanging at her Juhu home on June 3, 2013. A six-page long suicide note was found which accused Sooraj of mentally, physically, and emotionally abusing her.

The Mumbai Police later arrested the star kid for abetment of suicide under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 306. Since Jiah`s death, her mother Rabia Khan has been fighting for justice. A key prosecution witness in the case, Khan told the court she believes this to be a murder and not a suicide.

Section 306 of IPC also states, "If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine."

Sooraj Pancholi is currently out on bail. According to the CBI, the six-page-long letter accusing the actor was written by Jiah Khan. The letter mentioned Sooraj`s "intimate relationship, physical abuse, and mental and physical torture" to Jiah that forced her to commit suicide, said the central agency.

Sooraj Pancholi, however, declined all the charges filed against him and called them false allegations.
