Kapil Sharma, Huma Qureshi Summoned by ED in Mahadev Betting App Case

After Ranbir Kapoor was called earlier regarding some money that he received for promotion of the betting app, more names have come up in the case. Kapil Sharma, Huma Qureshi, and Hina Khan received summonses from the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday and have been asked to provide knowledge about the source of the money they received. Along with that, as many as 17 celebrities are involved in this, including Shradhha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, and others. All of them had attended or performed in different capacities at the wedding of Sourabh Chandarkar in February this year. They were also present at the company`s success party in December 2022. Both Kapil Sharma and Huma Qureshi have been summoned to appear before ED on Friday. Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor has sought a time of two weeks to come before ED.

What is the Mahadev App?
The Mahadev App is a betting app owned by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal from India, who made the app in Dubai in 2018. Running operations from Dubai, where betting is legal, the company got involved in laundering the money of users through a web of bank accounts.Why are celebrities involved?
It all started during the wedding of Sourabh in February this year in Dubai. It was also reported that private jets were hired to make travel arrangements for family members. Along with that, a lot of Bollywood celebrities performed at the event and were all paid in cash. A hefty amount of Rs 200 crore was spent at the wedding, all of which was paid in cash. Celebrities like Vishal Dadlani, Atif Aslam, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Ali Asgar, and many others were present. Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, does promotion for the app and has also received some cash. It was in this regard that the ED called him to trace the money received.
