Kareena Kapoor Talks About How She Coped After The Taimur`s Name Row Incident

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor recently opened up about the emotional turmoil she faced during the controversy surrounding her elder son Taimur Ali Khan’s name. The issue, which sparked widespread debate back in 2016, deeply affected her. In a candid conversation, Kareena revealed how the noise around the controversy influenced her and how she relied on the advice of her legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor, to navigate through the situation.
Adding to the controversy, Kareena shared that a prominent figure in the film industry rudely told her she had made a mistake by naming her son Taimur. Reflecting on the situation, Kareena said, “Of course, it affected me that people were talking about his name. He probably doesn`t even know that there was a whole drama and now suddenly everybody is like, `Ok, whatever`. But he also got a lot of love for the fact that people were so interested in him."

Kareena admitted that the sheer volume of discussions about her son’s name was overwhelming, but she learnt to take it in her stride. She recalled the wise words of her grandfather, Raj Kapoor, who once advised her, "If people are talking about you, good or bad, they are talking about you. Otherwise, why would they talk?” He had also told her that if she wanted to be a superstar, she would have to develop a "patthar ka dil" (a heart of stone).
Both Kareena and Saif admitted in past interviews that they briefly considered changing Taimur’s name but ultimately decided against it. “I took that in my stride. In fact, Saif was very relaxed and calm about it. He was like, ‘We need to be calm, and we need to be sure,’” she shared, explaining how they dealt with the situation together.

The Row About Taimur’s Name
Taimur Ali Khan was born in December 2016, and his name instantly caused an uproar across social media. Many people speculated that Taimur’s name was linked to the historical figure Timur, a Turkish invader. This assumption outraged a section of the public, who criticised Kareena and her husband, Saif Ali Khan, for their choice of name.
