Five years after Akshay Kumar powerfully portrayed a Sikh soldier in Kesari, chronicling the Battle of Saragarhi, anticipation is high for its spiritual successor. Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh shifts focus to another pivotal moment in Indian history. Ahead of its release this Friday, April 18th, a special screening in Delhi generated significant buzz, and the first wave of reviews from prominent figures is overwhelmingly positive.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and also starring R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, the film is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. It promises a compelling courtroom drama delving into the aftermath of the tragedy.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was visibly moved, stating in Hindi that the film presents "patriotism, courage, and sacrifice in a very impactful and emotional manner." In a video review, she shared, “Bohot hi marvellous movie... Iss movie ne, jiss tarike se dekhte hue rongte khade kar diye... I am very emotional.” Lawyer and politician Charu Pragya also tweeted her reaction mid-screening: “Watching the screening of #KesariChapter2, half way though the movie and I didn’t even blink in the first half! While the original Kesari showcased Akshay Kumar as Havildar Ishar Singh, Kesari Chapter 2 sees him step into the shoes of C. Sankaran Nair.
