Kriti Sanon Reveals Following A Strict Calorie Deficit Diet For Cocktail 2

One of the most anticipated movies of 2026, the teaser of Cocktail 2 has already sparked curiosity among moviegoers. Starring Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna in titular roles, the first song of the sequel has already received a positive response.
Recently, Kriti Sanon opened up about her experience working on Cocktail 2 and how she followed a strict calorie-deficit diet for her look in the film.
In a conversation with IANS, the actress shared, “Honestly, during Cocktail, it was the only time when I was on a very strict diet and a consistent workout routine. " And for the first time, I followed a calorie-deficient diet, which had never happened in my life. We were shooting in Italy, in Sicily… and when it comes to food there, it’s mostly pizza, pasta, pizza… all of that. And I was like… ah."

In a recent chat with Zoom, the Mimi actress gave a glimpse of what fans can expect from her upcoming romantic drama.
Speaking about why she chose to be a part of Homi Adajania`s film, Kriti Sanon highlighted she was looking for something light-hearted and easy-going that wasn`t as heavy as her last release, Tere Ishk Mein.
“Cocktail 2 just happened at the right time. I was craving it. I wanted to go into that really young, urban, fun space of a rom-com," Sanon shared.
She also shared her views on the sequel and said, “Yes, it’s a sequel, but it’s more of a vibe sequel, I feel. The story is completely different, the characters are completely different, and their backstories are completely different."

Cocktail revolves around the theme of friendship, love, laughter, losses, self-exploration, and more. The first instalment was released in 2012. It was written by Imtiaz Ali and helmed by Homi Adajania.

The first part starred Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty – marking the latter`s Bollywood debut.
The filmmaker, after over a decade, has returned with the sequel with new faces – Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna. While the crux of the film remains the same, the story comes with a new freshness.
Cocktail 2 will release on June 19, 2026, in cinemas near you.
