Actress Deepika Padukone, founder of the Live Love Laugh Foundation, is currently enjoying a new chapter in her life—motherhood. Deepika and her husband, Ranveer Singh, welcomed their baby girl on September 8, 2024, and have since been immersed in the joys and challenges that come with having a newborn. However, in a recent video released as part of her foundation’s Lecture Series, Deepika opened up about some of the struggles she has faced during pregnancy and the postpartum period, shedding light on an often-hidden aspect of motherhood.
During the lecture, she appeared alongside Arianna Huffington, the founder of the Huffington Post and Thrive Global. The two women shared stories of their personal experiences dealing with stress, overworking, and burnout. Deepika revealed that sleep deprivation often led to stress and, ultimately, burnout.
She remarked, “When you lack sleep or you are tired, the decisions you make are greatly affected. I think sometimes I can really feel it. I know that for some days I have not been getting enough sleep and I have not taken care of myself, so to a great extent my decision-making ability is affected.”
She emphasised that while these feelings are common, they are still challenging to navigate. Deepika added, “It is absolutely normal to feel pain, anger and some of these emotions and learn from it. The bigger picture is how you deal with that criticism and how you use it positively and work on yourself. You have to work hard and be patient.”
