Om Puri passes away due to heart attack, he was 66

Fondly revered as one of the finest actors of Indian cinema, the industry lost one of its priceless gems in Om Puri as the veteran actor passed away this morning due to a heart attack. He was 66.
Born on 18th October 1950 to a Punjabi family, Puri appeared in a number of Bollywood, Pakistani, Hollywood and independent films. His most noted works are ‘Aakrosh’, ‘Arohan’, ‘Ardh Satya’, ‘Maachis’, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘The Hundred Foot Journey’.
He was awarded the Padmashri in 1990 and has also won the BAFTA for the Best Actor in a Leading Role in ‘East is East’.
He is survived by ex-wife Nandita and son Ishaan.
