PM Modi Extends Congratulatory Wishes To Donald Trump On Winning US Elections
One of the most important days in the history of the United States of America, the US presidential elections are always a topic that affects everything and everyone. This election saw Donald Trump snatching the win from his opponent Kamala Harris as he becomes the 47th US President.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media and extended congratulatory wishes to Trump, calling him a `friend.` On Wednesday, the PM joined the list of leaders who extended their best wishes to the new President of the United States.
Modi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership."
"Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity,” he further added.
Strong diplomatic ties, common goals, strategic cooperation, and evident personal camaraderie have strengthened the two leaders` bond. Narendra Modi and Donald Trump`s friendship was showcased in massive events like "Howdy Modi!" in Houston in 2019 and "Namaste Trump" in Ahemdabad in 2020, where the two addressed a huge crowd and conveyed their mutual admiration.
This political relationship grew closer during the COVID-19 pandemic when India supplied hydroxychloroquine to America, and the latter supported our response.
The 78-year-old politician won the elections by 277 electoral votes, while his opponent Kamala Harris lost with 224 electoral votes.

Describing the Republican election campaign as the "greatest political movement of all time," Trump said, "We are going to help our country heal and fix our borders; we made history for a reason tonight."
"We have achieved the most incredible political win. I want to thank the American people. I will fight for you and your family with every breath in my body," he further added.
In his victory speech, Donald Trump also thanked his running mate JD Vance, wife Melanie Trump, and children for their constant support in what has been a challenging campaign.
