Yet another film on the epic tale of Ramayana is in the works, and now it is confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will play the role of Lord Rama. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film also features South Indian actors Sai Pallavi and Yash in the roles of Sita and Ravana, respectively. Shooting of the film is going to commence by February 2024, and all three actors have completed their look tests.
Nitesh Tiwari is known for directing Dangal (2016) and Chhichore (2019), and he is confident enough to match the vision for the epic story and transform its timeless tale on screen. Previously, Adipurush received a lot of criticism for an unnatural portrayal of the story of Rama, with major problems in the visuals and dialogues. However, with his own version, Nitesh Tiwari aims to focus not just on the VFX but also on providing an overall emotional impact through character dynamics.
The film is a trilogy, with the first part focusing on the story of Lord Rama and Sita until she is kidnapped by Ravana in the episode of Sita Haran. Yash will feature only briefly in the first part but will have an important role to play in the subsequent parts. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are going to shoot for the film from February to August 2024.
It is exciting news, as fans are waiting to finally witness the magic of the Ramayana in its truest form, without dilution in any aspect. With a stunning cast and an all-India appeal, the film has surely raised expectations.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his action film Animal, which is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna alongside him. Sai Pallavi was last seen in the Tamil film Gargi, which was a courtroom drama that received many accolades from critics and audiences when it was released in 2022. Yash was last seen in the blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2, which broke all records and is currently the fourth highest grossing Indian film.
