Ranveer Singh Takes Legal Action As His Deepfake Video Goes Viral
There are pros and cons to being a famous personality, especially when you are an actor. Many would relate to it, especially Ranveer Singh, after a deepfake video of him criticizing the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, went viral on the internet.
The video emerged after the actor`s recent visit to Varanasi, where Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon promoted local designers by becoming the voice and face for the #VocalForLocal campaign. During the same time span, the Simmba actor sat down with ANI for an interview.
Amid the deepfake video doing the rounds on the internet, Ranveer has now taken the legal route as he filed an FIR with the Mumbai cybercrime cell.
In the same interview, he revealed his connection with Lord Shiva and also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for celebrating India`s rich culture and heritage.

However, a clip from his interview was picked up and doctored using artificial intelligence, in which the father-to-be was seen criticizing the government. This comes amidst the national elections.
After the clip went viral, Ranveer Singh filed a complaint with the Mumbai police cybercrime cell and urged his fans to beware of deepfake videos.
His spokesperson confirmed the same and said, “Yes, we have filed the police complaint, and an FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh.”
The actor also took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, "Deepfake se bacho doston (Friends, beware of deepfakes).”
Khan`s spokesperson emphasized his effort to raise awareness through election commission campaigns.
The actor`s official spokesperson clarified by saying, “We want to clarify that Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising public awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections."
"We are alarmed by the recent viral video alleging that Aamir Khan is promoting a particular political party. He would like to clarify that this is a fake video and totally untrue,” the statement further read.

Aamir Khan becomes a victim of deepfake
Ranveer`s incident follows after the Laal Singh Chaddha actor`s deepfake video promoting a specific political party went viral. This prompted his team to clarify that Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party in his entire career.Khan`s spokesperson emphasized his effort to raise awareness through election commission campaigns.
