RRR For Oscars: SS Rajamouli And Team Begin Campaigning, Will Academy Consider It For Best Movie?

With Indian cinema reaching to Oscars, there`s another Pan-Indian movie that has enrolled itself for being nominated in the Academy Awards. For the unversed, out of RRR, The Kashmir Files, and Gujaarti movie Chhello Show, the latter was chosen by the jury as an Oscar entrant from India. However, SS Rajamouli and team have started campaigning for nominating RRR in Oscars next year.
Releasing a new category `for your consideration`, the makers have requested the jury to conisder RRR for 15 different categories including Best Picture (DVV Danayya), Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt) and more. Apart from this RRR also hopes to be nominated in categories like Screenplay, Score, Editing, Cinematography, Sound, Production Design, VFX and its song Naatu Naatu for Best Original Song.
One of the most successful and highest grossing Pan-Indian movie, RRR collected over Rs. 1,000 crores during its theatrical release in India. It also garnered overwhelming response from the audience in the West after the movie started streaming on Netflix. After announcing the final campiagn for being an nominee in Oscars 2023, the makers of the movie took to Instagram and shared a post.
It read, “We are honoured that RRR`s overwhelming success represented Indian Cinema on the global stage by creating milestones at the worldwide box-office and uniting film buffs across the world by transcending linguistic and cultural barriers."
It further read, "We`re grateful to each and every one who loved our film and cheered us over the past few months. You made the journey possible. We applied to The Academy for Oscars consideration in general category. We wish our RRR family the best and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Here`s to continuing to win hearts and entertain audiences worldwide."
