“Maatrubhumi”: Salman Khan announces the release date!
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has finally put an end to the months of speculation surrounding his much-awaited war drama, "Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace". Bhaijaan xofficially announced that the film will hit theatres on December 4, 2026, bringing fresh excitement among fans who have been eagerly awaiting its release. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film has remained in the headlines due to multiple postponements, production challenges and its sensitive subject matter.
Salman Khan recently interacted with an entertainment portal where he talked about the movie and the reasons behind the delay. Sharing all about it, he said, “Today, there are a lot of VFX experts out there who examine each and every shot of a film. So, with this film, we don`t want to give anyone an opportunity to zoom in on a scene and criticise its VFX. We want this film to visually blow everyone`s mind. It is a beautifully shot film. We thought we would be able to complete the film in 45-50 days, but madam got injured, and it took her time to recover. We were earlier supposed to release the film in either January or June, but it was then pushed to August. Now, we will release it on December 4.”

For the unversed, “Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace” was earlier titled "Battle of Galwan" before being rechristened "Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace". It is inspired by the military standoff in eastern Ladakh in May 2020. As for Salman Khan, the Bollywood superstar will play the role of Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who laid down his life along with 19 other soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment during the clash.
With its theatrical release now scheduled for December 4, Maatrubhumi is also expected to face competition from the upcoming film Eetha. The December release gives Salman Khan an opportunity to return to the big screen with a serious, emotionally demanding character that differs from his familiar larger-than-life action roles.
For audiences, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace promises a combination of military drama, emotional storytelling and a tribute to the courage of Indian soldiers.
