Luv ju from Bunty Aur Babli 2 is special to Siddhant Chaturvedi for a singular reason. “It’s my first romantic song,” exclaims Chaturvedi, who explored the world of rap with his debut film Gully Boy (2019). That Luv ju also required him to pick up salsa was the cherry on top. The actor says that he trained in the dance form ahead of the shoot. “I was excited to learn salsa from Vaibhavi Merchant. Since I was going to shoot a romantic song for the first time in my career, I gave it my all and practiced for hours. In Punjabi, one often says ‘Luv ju’ instead of ‘Love you’. The song captures the vibe and style of how the youngsters use the term. It’s a feel-good song that shows how the new Bunty and Babli let their hair down after a grand heist.”
He is joined by Sharvari, his partner-in-crime in the Varun V Sharma-directed con caper that sees them as the new-age Bunty and Babli. The two will be seen turning the tables on the original con artistes, essayed by Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji. “We learnt a mix of bachata and salsa for a portion of this song. We had to pull off some extremely fast-paced [steps],” says Sharvari, remembering how they trained extensively for weeks. “Salsa is all about partnership, and while learning it, Sid and I struggled to find that balance. Eventually, we got the hang of it. We practiced [relentlessly] because we wanted to get the choreography bang on.”
