Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun dead
In a shocking turn of events, Parasite actor Lee Sun-Kyun was found dead in Seoul, South Korea, early on Wednesday morning. While the reason for his death is not yet known, it is reported to have been caused by suicide. He was undergoing an investigation for his alleged use of psychoactive drugs. This news comes as a huge shock for the world-wide film fraternity.
It was also reported that ever since his name in the drug scandal came up, he was losing most of his TV and film projects. He was a versatile actor, having shown his acting prowess in films like Helpless (2012), which was a psychological thriller. He played the role of a fiance who goes in search of his wife after her disappearance.
Lee Sun-Kyun was a graduate of the National University of Arts, which is a well-known and respected institute in South Korea. He made his debut in acting with the 2001 television comedy, Lovers. Ever since, he kept doing many films and had attained a respectable status in the film industry in South Korea.
International and much wider success came to him with the 2019 black comedy film Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-Ho. In the film, he plays the negative role of a capitalist man from the upper class who shows no empathy for anyone else near him. His performance in the film was much appreciated, and he even won the Screen Actors Guild Award for the film.

Parasite eventually went on to win big at the Academy Awards held that year. It bagged the prize for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. It was also the first non-English film to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
When he was arrested earlier in October, he expressed his disappointment while speaking to the media. He said, "I sincerely apologize for causing great disappointment to many people by being involved in such an unpleasant incident." He also said that he felt sorry for his family, which was going through a lot due to his predicaments.
Lee Sun-Kyun was 48 and is survived by his wife, actress Jeon Hye-jin.
