Netflix released The Romantics trailer yesterday and if it did not give you goosebumps, you are not a true Bollywood fan. Bringing around 35 Bollywood celebrities under one roof, the docu-series is a tribute to the iconic filmmaker Yash Chopra. From Amitabh Bachcan to Ranveer Singh, all the yesteryear and young actors came together to reminisce about their experience working with the late director. What makes this Netflix series more iconic is the fact that it was Rishi Kapoor`s last interview.
Helmed by Never Have I Ever director Smriti Mundhra, she shares her experience filming with Rishi Kapoor, who appears with his wife Neetu Kapoor. The veteran actor has collaborated with Yash Chopra for some iconic movies like Chandni, Fanaa, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Hum Tum, and more.
When asked about the same, Mundhra said, "Rishi Kapoor was not only an iconic actor, he carried with him an encyclopedic knowledge of the Hindi film industry. On the day of our interview, which would be his last, he was characteristically charming, erudite, and eager to reminisce. His death represents the loss of a significant piece of cinema history, and I’ll forever be grateful for the insights, anecdotes, and perspective he shared."
Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan, and many more came under one roof to share their fond memories of Yash Chopra.
However, what shocked everyone was when the makers revealed Aditya Chopra has agreed to face the camera exclusively for The Romantics. Aditya Chopra is not much of a camera person. He is known to be very private, so much so, that his last interview dated way back in 1995.
Now, this is going to be an epic docu-series to watch out for. The Romantics will start streaming on Netflix on February 14.
