After Priyanka Chopra and other social media influencers, it is Urvashi Rautela who joined the badwagon of showing her support to injustice happening with Iranian women. Several influencers and Bollywood actresses came together to show their support to the women in Iran by chopping off their hair. While Urvashi did the same, she ended up being brutally trolled by netizens.
Urvashi Rautela, who is enjoying her time in Australia right now, went to a local hair salon to get the ends of her hair `chopped.` This was her way to show solidarity to the women in Iran who are facing major injustice. For the unversed, Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Irani women was taken under the police custody after she failed to wear a hijab in public. She died while she was under arrest and this caused a huge havoc in Iran. Hundreds of women came together to protest against the filthy act and in order to show their support by taking off their hijab and chopping off a part of their hair.
Urvashi jumped on the trend bandwagon and took to Instagram as she posed for a hair cut at a local salon. The actress wore a blue kurta and her back faced the camera. While her caption seemed convincing, netizens doubted if she just went in for a trim.
Highlighting the protests in Iran, Urvashi shared the post and wrote, “Chopped my hair off! Cutting my hair in support of Iranian women and girls, who have been killed in protests at the death of Mahsa Amini after her arrest by Iranian morality police and for all the girls. And for 19-year-old girl, my Ankita Bhandari from Uttarakhand. Around the world women are uniting in protest against the Iranian government by cutting their hair. Respect women. A global symbol for women’s revolution… hair is seen as a symbol of the beauty of women. By chopping off hair in public, women are showing that they don’t care about society’s beauty standards and won’t let anything or anyone decide how they dress up, behave or live. Once women come together and consider one woman’s issue an issue of the entire womankind, feminism will see a new vigour.”
A user commented “India ki women ke liye hi kuch kar lo pehle (first do something for the women in India).” Some even left comments mentioning and tagging Rishabh Pant to tease the actress.
Do you believe if the actress chopped off her hair for real?
