Veteran Actor Javed Khan Amrohi Passes Away Due To Lung Failure At A Hospital In Mumbai

Bollywood lost one of its precious gems as veteran theatre and film actor Javed Khan Amrohi passes away on 14th February due to lung failure at a hospital in Mumbai. The actor was best known for his performance in the popular TV show Nukkad and films such as Lagaan and Chak De! India was suffering from a breathing ailment. He was in his early 70s and was bedridden for the past year.
Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar confirmed Javed’s death to PTI and revealed that the actor died due to lung failure. Javed had been bedridden and was undergoing treatment in Mumbai. “He passed away at the hospital around 1 pm as both his lungs failed,” he told.
Renowned Akhilendra Mishra, Javed’s co-star of Lagaan informed PTI, "He was my senior in theatre. He was an active member of IPTA (Indian People`s Theatre Association) Mumbai since the 1970s”. He added that the actor`s last rites will be performed at the Oshiwara Kabristan at 7.30 pm.
Actor Danish Husain took to Twitter to pay condolences to the star. Husain wrote, "Gutted to hear about #JavedKhanAmrohi Bhai`s demise. This seems to be a season of farewell. Condolences to his family, friends, colleagues @iptamumbai #Nukkadd #Lagaan, and so on and so forth."
