Vicky Kaushal Recalls Being Attacked By Coal Smugglers On The Sets Of Gangs Of Wasseypur
Last Friday took the internet by storm, thanks to Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri starrer Bad Newz. The movie is a sequel to the 2019 release Good Newwz, which was headlined by Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh.
The actor, who is busy promoting his new release, was on a roll of doing interviews and promotions in various cities. In one of the interviews, Vicky recalled an incident from his days as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur.
For the uninitiated, Vicky Kaushal started his career as an assistant director in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur. The two-instalment film became a cult classic and commercial blockbuster in 2012.
Vicky recalled an incident during the days when he was an AD in the sets of Anurag Kashyap`s film where he was almost attacked by the real-life coal smugglers.

He said, "The coal smuggling that was shown in the film was real. We shot it. One incident happened when we went to capture visuals of illegal sand mining. I was baffled because that was the first time I realized that this happens so openly that you wouldn`t feel that this is actual smuggling going on; you would feel that it is a properly run business because there weren`t just two trucks standing there; there were 500 trucks.”
“We were shooting them secretly, and some people came. There were 500 people surrounding us. So, the camera attendant was an old man, probably 50 or older. That guy called the unit, saying that the camera wouldn`t come on time because we were caught up in a situation here," he continued.

Vicky Kaushal concluded, "Hearing him talk over the phone, the person there thought that he was calling somebody influential. That man slapped the cameraman, snatched the camera from him, and threatened us that they would break the camera. Both of us were about to get beaten up. We somehow escaped and saved our lives.”
The comedy-drama has been garnering decent reviews and was off to a decent start, collecting about 30 crore on its debut weekend.
On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will next be seen in Chhava, a period drama based on the life of Chattrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj. The Laxman Utekar directorial also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles.
The film will see a theatrical release on December 6.
