Jaya Bachchan Breaks Silence On Being There For Amitabh Bachhcan During His Bankruptcy
The lives of Bollywood actors look glamorous and far from ordinary troubles from the outside. While what`s going on inside is always kept under wraps, who would have thought megastar Amitabh Bachchan would have once gone through a tough phase of bankruptcy?
For the uninitiated, the couple went through a tumultuous time in 1999 after his venture, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation (ABC), emerged as a disaster for the Badla actor. ABC was started in 1995.
While the family has always stayed away from speaking about it, Jaya Bachchan recently opened up about how they dealt with and overcame the tough phase. She acted as a silent support for her husband.
The podcast featured Navya, Jaya, and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The three ladies of the family got candid about their personal lives as they recalled the major setback.

“We went through different kinds of failures in different phases of my life. When a man is going through a tough phase, it’s nice to just be there and be quiet for them. It’s nice to be silently standing there and saying, Listen, I am here for you,” Jaya Bachchan recalled.
To this, Shweta intervened and said, "No, Mumma! I don’t agree. Sometimes all a man needs is some idea, which they can then work on. I would like to play a more proactive role and look for a solution because I’m a problem solver.”

The Bachchan family went through a rollercoaster in the 1990s of life after Amitabh Bachchan`s venture sank and went bankrupt. In an old interview, he revealed that he had a debt of Rs 90 crore.
There were creditors on the door every day; it was very embarrassing and humiliating,” the Goodbye actor said. The veteran actor`s career resurrected after Yash Raj Films offered him Mohabbatein, which went on to be a massive hit.
His quiz game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, also played a significant role in giving his career a second innings. Now, he is one of the richest and most successful actors in Indian cinema.
