The actress, who is busy promoting her latest release, spoke about nepotism and recalled her struggling days. She also delved into the experiences of overcoming rejections and enduring what Vidya Balan describes as a witch hunt before becoming successful.
For the uninitiated, Do Aur Do Pyaar was released on April 19. It revolves around a complicated marriage where the couple loses interest in each other and ends up having an extramarital affair.

Vidya was accompanied by her co-star Pratik Gandhi, who plays the role of her on-screen husband in Do Aur Do Pyaar.
When asked about her two cents on nepotism prevailing in Bollywood, she said, "Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote" (The film industry doesn`t belong to anybody`s father; otherwise, all the star kids would have been successful)."
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actress also recalled the `witch-hunt` phase early in her career and shared how back-to-back rejections almost shattered her.

"I was going through heartbreak for three years. That feeling of rejection was so strong, and it was devastating. I was shattered, and my will to continue on this path was shaken. But I have to say that the fire in my belly outshone everything else," she added.
Having relocated from Surat to Mumbai with an aspiration to become a successful actor, Pratik Gandhi recalled the time when television straight-up rejected him.
“TV rejected me outright. All the auditions that I gave... I got rejected. Their idea of an actor for a television show was a little different. My appearance didn`t work for them. They were looking for a certain kind of physique, skin color, and look," he shared.
Do Aur Do Pyaar revolves around an unhappy couple who lose interest after 12 years of being married. Despite it being a love marriage, sparks fade out, and what remains behind are petty arguments and meaningless fights.
The two then set out to find happiness in their extra-marital partners. Vidya is seen romancing Sendhil, while Pratik falls in love with Ileana. The trailer leaves you intrigued to find out if they have a happy ending.
