Rising indie artist Aryan Sharma, popularly known as Nikamma, returns with his new second single, Kho Jaana, released on November 21 under Molfa Music. Hailing from Delhi, Nikamma has built a dedicated fanbase with his soulful mash-ups and covers of indie hits on Instagram. Following the success of his debut single Ahana, the singer-songwriter takes a leap into the world of Teen Pop with Kho Jaana, a track that embodies youthful emotion and heartfelt storytelling.
“‘Kho Jaana’ means to get lost or immersed in something,” explains Nikamma. “For me, this song is about convincing my significant other of the genuineness of my feelings. It’s about us losing ourselves in the depth of our emotions.” Nikamma sees this track as a personal and professional milestone. “This single is a big step up in terms of quality. I poured so much more of myself into this track, and it feels like my purest expression yet,” he shares.
A self-taught musician, Nikamma grew up influenced by a variety of genres. From mainstream pop to the indie sounds of Dayglow, Rex Orange County, and Boy Pablo, to the psychedelic vibes of Tame Impala and the jazz stylings of Laufey, his musical inspirations are as eclectic as his sound. He also credits The Strokes and Keshi as key influences in shaping his artistry. Kho Jaana reflects a deeply personal chapter in Nikamma’s life. “I wanted to capture the essence of reminiscing about beautiful moments spent with someone I was head over heels for,” he explains. “It’s a love letter to those memories.” The track was A&R by Chintan Chauhan from Molfa and co-produced by Aman Sagar - another Molfa artist, whom Nikamma credits for elevating the song’s production value. While most of the music was created in his bedroom, the lead vocals were recorded at Splendid studio in Mumbai, adding a polished touch to this heartfelt track. Following his debut single Ahana, which celebrated the innocence of first love, Kho Jaana delves deeper, exploring the immersive nature of falling completely for someone. Nikamma’s vision is to blend Western indie vibes with the Indian music scene, bringing the sounds of artists like Boy Pablo, Dayglow, and Tame Impala to a new audience.
Kho Jaana is now streaming on all major platforms. Listen and get lost in its magic.
