6 Directors-turned-Actors of Bollywood
Director turned actor Amole Gupte has given brilliant performances in several hit films including Singham Returns, Phas Gaye Re Obama and Kaminey. Amole had earlier directed films like Stanley Ka Dabba and Hawaa Hawaai amongst others.
Having made his successful debut in Anurag Kashyaps Gangs of Wasseypur is director turned actor Tigmanshu Dhulia. He is well known for his directed hits like Bullett Raja, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, and Paan Singh Tomar. Tigmanshu also appeared in Ketan Mehtas Manjhi: The Mountain Man.
The perky bubbly director of Bollywood, Farah Khan is certainly multi-talented. Farah made her acting debut not by doing any side roles but the lead role opposite Boman Irani in the film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi in the year 2012. In the past, Farah Khan has directed hits like Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year.
If Shah Rukh Khan is the king of romance amongst actors then Karan Johar can be titled as the king of romance amongst directors. He has given hits like Student of the Year, My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai before debuting in Annurag Kashyaps Bombay Velvet.
Known for being the director with the most out-of-the-box vision, director Anurag Kashyap has also made appearances in certain films in the past. The Gangs Of Wasseypur hit maker has done cameos in films Soundtrack, Shagird and I Am. He has directed films like Dev D, Black Friday and That Girl in Yellow Boots amongst others.
We will be indebted to him forever for Dil Chahta Hai. Since then, Farhan has directed some great entertainers such as Lakshya and the Don franchise before he debuted as an actor in Rock On. He has then gone to act in super successful films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Dil Dhadakne Do.
