Tapsee Pannu played Mithali Raj, who was the captain of the women’s Indian cricket team. Through the movie, we were able to get a glimpse into the cricketer’s personal and professional life. Tapsee’s dedication to the role was showcased through her fantastic performance.
The role of Mohinder Amarnath, son of renowned cricketer Lala Amarnath, is portrayed by Saqib Saleem. The movie's protagonist was a member of the Indian cricket team that won the World Cup in 1983. The real Mohinder Amarnath made an appearance as his father, Lala Amarnath, in the film, which was another unique aspect of this role.
Sushant Singh Rajput played the cricket icon MS Dhoni and did an excellent job. The character was portrayed so well that the mannerisms and batting styles were uncanny to those of the real-life ‘Captain Cool’.
Ranveer Singh’s performance as the former captain of Indian Cricket Team Kapil Dev was critically acclaimed. Ranveer did a fabulous job of not only perfectly embodying the cricketer all the way down to the way he talked but successfully capturing the emotion of India’s historical first world cup win at Lords Stadium, England.
Azhar Mohammad, a talented cricket player who came from a middle-class household, is played by Imran Hashmi. Nevertheless, his reputation starts to be compromised by claims of match-fixing. Imran brilliantly illustrates the challenges the cricketer had to confront.
