To play Harshad Mehta in ‘Scam 1992’, the otherwise lean actor had to gain 18 kilos to look the part. He also extensively learnt about the workings of the Indian stock market and spoke to the employees at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Before ‘Scam 1992’, Pratik starred in ‘Loveyatri’ and ‘Mitron’, as the best friend to the lead heroes Aayush Sharma and Jackie Bhagnani respectively. Both Hindi films had released back-to-back in 2018.
The actor considers the late actor Sanjeev Kumar as his inspiration.
On being offered ‘Wrong Side Raju’, Pratik quit his full-time job to pursue acting as a while. Infact, director Hansal Mehta cast Pratik for ‘Scam 1992’ after seeing him in the National-Award winning film.
Through his stint in theatre, the actor acquired his first cinematic break with the acclaimed Gujarati film, ‘Bey Yaar’, where he starred alongside Divyang Thakkar, actor and director of the upcoming Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’.
To keep his passion in acting alive while also wanting to run his house, Pratik came to Mumbai in the early 2000s, where he took up a job at Reliance while actively performing at Prithvi Theatre.
He is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering but was always inclined to Performing Arts.
