Digital arrest is a form of cybercrime where scammers impersonate law enforcement or government officials to extort money or personal information from victims.

Impersonation

Scammers pose as police officers, government agents, or other authority figures to deceive victims.  

Intimidation

They use threats of arrest, legal action, or other negative consequences to scare victims into compliance.

Isolation

Victims are often instructed to isolate themselves and not discuss the situation with anyone, creating a sense of fear and dependence on the scammers.

Extortion

The primary goal is often to extort money from victims through various means, such as bank transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.

Information theft

Scammers may also try to steal personal information, such as social security numbers, bank account details, or passwords.

Psychological manipulation

They use psychological tactics to manipulate victims, such as creating a sense of urgency, fear, or guilt.

No physical confinement

Unlike a real arrest, there is no physical detention involved. The "arrest" is entirely psychological, based on fear and manipulation.

Digital arrest is a serious crime, having devastating financial and emotional consequences. It`s important to be aware of it and know how to protect yourself.
