Remover of obstacles
Lord Ganesha is known as Vighnaharta, the one who removes hurdles. Devotees worship him before starting any new venture, business, or intellectual journey.
Creation of Lord Ganesha
Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesha out of the turmeric, sandalwood paste, and breathed life into the clay, and set him to guard her door.
Duration of Ganesh utsav!
The festival lasts 10 days, starting on chaturthi of Hindu month of Bhadrapada (August–September). Families choose to host the idol for 1.5, 3, 5, 7, or 11 days
Prana Pratishtha
Devotees bring crafted clay idols (murtis) into homes or decorated public stages (pandals) and invoke the deity`s presence through sacred mantras.
Modak: The mandatory "prasad"
Modak (a sweet dumpling filled with coconut & jaggery) is considered Ganesha’s favorite treat and is widely shared as prasad (blessed food).
The festival ends with Visarjan
On the final day (Ananta Chaturdashi), the idols are immersed in water bodies, symbolizing Ganesha`s return to Mount Kailash.
Lord Ganesha: God of Wisdom
His physical form carries deep symbolism: elephant head represents sharp intellect, large ears signify deep listening, and small eyes stand for concentration.
