Celebration Duration

The festival is observed for 10 days, starting on the fourth day of the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada and ending on Anant Chaturdashi, the 14th day.

Idol Installation

Devotees install clay idols of Lord Ganesha in homes and public places. These idols are often elaborately decorated and are worshipped with great devotion.

Pooja and Offerings

During the festival, devotees perform rituals, offer flowers, sweets (especially modaks), and chant prayers and hymns dedicated to Ganesha.

Immersion Ceremony

At the end of the festival, the idols are taken in a grand procession to a water body and immersed, symbolizing the cycle of birth and dissolution
