Kangana Ranaut`s Journey to Politics
Kangana was born in 1987 in Bhambla, a small village in Himachal Pradesh in the Mandi constituency. She took her primary education in Dehradun.
Kangana had to leave her home at 15 to pursue her dream of becoming an actress, as her father didn`t support her.
During her days as a struggling actress, Kangana slept of streets and travelled in public transport due to lack of financial support from her family.
Despite these hardships, she made her debut at 19 in Anurag Basu`s 2006 film Gangster: A Love Story alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Later in 2008, Ranaut gained critical acclaim for her film Fashion. She starred in a supporting role with Priyanka Chopra, for which she won a National Award.
Kangana Ranaut`s 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu became the first women-led film to cross the 100 crore mark at the box office. The film also starred R. Madhavan.
The actress was the lead star in some superhit films like Queen, Manikarnika, Shootout At Wadala, and Life in a Metro, among others.
In 2024, the actress announced her entry to politics by contesting in the Lok Sabha elections on BJP ticket from her hometown, Mandi.
Kangana Ranaut gained landslide victory at the Lok Sabha elections, defeating Congress` candidate, Vikramaditya Singh, the Rampur royal family`s heir.
