Vinesh Phogat`s Past Achievements

Vinesh Phogat, the Indian wrestler representing India at the Paris Olympics, made history by becoming the first woman wrestler to reach the finals.

However, she was disqualified today after being found to be 100 gms over the weight limit, even after she worked throughout the night to lose more than 2 kgs.

Commonwealth Games

Vinesh has won a total of 3 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games held in 2014 in Glasgow, 2018 in Gold Coast, and 2022 in Birmingham, respectively.

Asian Wrestling Championships

In 2013 and 2019, Vinesh Phogat won bronze medals in both years. In 2021, she won the gold medal in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Asian Games

At the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, Vinesh won the gold medal after beating Yuki Irie of Japan in the game.

World Wrestling Championships

In 2019 and 2021, Vinesh Phogat won the bronze medal at the World Championships, which took place in Belgrade, Serbia, and Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, respectively.

National Awards

Apart from these, Vinesh Phogat was also the honouree of the Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2020, the Arjuna Award in 2016, and a Padma Shri in 2018.
