Giardia

Causes diarrhea, cramps, gas from contaminated water or food. To prevent, purify drinking water, wash hands before eating, and avoid swallowing pool water.

Leptospirosis

Causes fever, muscle aches, chills from contact with contaminated water or soil. To prevent, wear boots in floods and avoid wading in stagnant water.

Dengue fever

Causes high fever, severe headache, or joint pain from mosquito breeding in stagnant water. To prevent, clean stagnant water areas or use mosquito nets.

Melioidosis

Causes fever, cough, chest pain from contaminated water or soil. To prevent, minimize contact with stagnant water or soil and wear gloves while gardening.
