The Sandeep Reddy Vanga action film Animal has turned out to be a massive blockbuster at the box office. Audiences all over are just loving to see Ranbir Kapoor in a no-holds-barred action avatar. The film has already broken some previous box-office records on the worldwide market and is still going strong. It is expected to do even better during the weekend after an astonishing run in the first week.

Ranbir Kapoor Film Enters the 500 Crore Club

The film has a worldwide collection of over Rs. 563.3 crore. It is soon going to cross the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju, which made over 580 crores. The domestic box office collection of Animal is over Rs. 338 crore. With the sheer manner in which it is running strongly in theaters, it is expected to go on till Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki releases on December 21.

Animal got a lot of backlash from many people owing to its violent nature and its normalizing of misogyny. Many of its problematic scenes have been called out by people for their underlying elements that push a certain bad attitude towards women. The makers have defended the film. Tripti Dimri spoke out against the criticism, particularly her shoe-licking scene, which received quite some outrage.

Despite these controversies, the film shows no sign of stopping. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's earlier films, like Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, also received similar reactions that polarized the viewers, even though they did well at the box office.

Ranbir Kapoor had called his character in the film completely different from what he had done before. He compared Animal to Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and called it an A-rated version of it.

Animal also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Suresh Oberoi in important roles. It clashed at the box office with Sam Bahadur and emerged as a clear winner among the two. Both films were released on December 1.

Animal tells the story of a father-son bond carved in blood and explores the violent side of what troubled childhood does to the mind of the person growing up.
