It is Hema Malini's birthday on October 16, and she turned 76. The actress, who starred in more than 50 films in a glorious career, gave timeless hits like Seeta aur Geeta, Dream Girl, Johny Mera Naam, Baghban, and more.
She started many trends in the industry in terms of fashion and created a sensation with her screen presence. Her love story with the legendary actor Dharmendra is much talked about, as it began on the sets of Sholay.
Along with acting in films in the 80s and 90s, where she reached the ultimate zenith of her career, the veteran actress is versatile in many other things. She is a Bharatnatyam dancer, a politician, a producer, and even a director.

1) Hema Malini and Zeenat Aman were the highest-paid Bollywood actresses at one time. With multiple hits to their name, both of them knew their worth and didn't hesitate to ask the producer what they deserved.
2) Hema Malini and Dharmendra starred together in a total of 35 films. Along with that, she was a part of 10 films alongside superstar Rajesh Khanna.

3) She turned director with the 1992 film 'Dil Ashna Hai', which was the debut of Shah Rukh Khan. Although the film was released after Deewana, it tells a story of a cabaret dancer who sets out to find her mother but faces some obstacles along the way.
4) Again, a curious fact about her life is that she is just 9 years older than Sunny Deol, who is Dharmendra's eldest son from his first wife. Dharmendra was first married to Prakash Kaur, with whom he had four children. Hema Malini and Dharmendra got married in 1980.
5) She was nominated as the Rajya Sabha MP by APJ Abdul Kalam, who was the president from 2003 to 2009. After this, she made her official entry into politics when she joined the BJP in 2004.
