NOVEMBER 18,2024

It is International Men's Day, and we are in awe of men who love breaking stereotypes and challenging society for its old beliefs. We barely give men any credit for what they do.

Hiding it under the label of "duties and responsibilities," what we forget is they are also sensitive, sensible, and soft at heart. On International Men's Day, we're here to make you meet 7 Bollywood male characters who challenged the stereotypes and shattered them into fine little pieces.

We only wish they existed in real life. Enough of sulking now. Let's take you through our seven ordinarily extraordinary superheroes.

1. Farhan Akhtar as Sunny in Dil Dhadakne Do

An aspiring journalist who wanted to be independent and win over Ayesha (Priyanka Chopra), we fell in love with him when he put Manav (Rahul Bose) in his place.

Remember the "why did Ayesha need your permission" scene? Ah, still gives us a wide smile on our faces. We love you, Sunny.

2. Shahid Kapoor As Aditya Kashyap In Jab We Met

Every single day we manifest to miss our train and find someone like Aditya Kashyap who will come to our rescue. No, we're not some damsel in distress, but come on, who wouldn't like to elope with a stranger, fall in love with him, and settle amidst the snow-clad mountains?

What we love about Shahid Kapoor's character here is how he outgrows his old self to become a better, more confident person who is ready to take life as it comes.

3. Amitabh Bachchan as Bhashkor Banerjee in Piku

They say fathers hold a special place in every daughter's life. Well, Bhashkor Da proved it right. The way he becomes an overprotective father yet behaves like a kid for Piku (Deepika Padukone) is adorable.

The much-relatable reel-life father-daughter duo depicted most of the familial stories. In the pool of "let's marry her off," Bhashkor was a refreshing "find your worth and be happy."

Teaching Piku to never settle for less was one of the greatest lessons to learn from this Bollywood movie.

4. Arjun Kapoor as Kabir Bansal in Ki and Ka

We may all love the idea of househusbands, but if applied in real life, would you be as open as Kia to accept a Kabir? While Kia (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is an unstoppable, ambitious woman, Kabir here proves how challenging it is to run a house and not take any credit for it.

No wonder this Bollywood character is the "Most Wanted Munda!"

5. Kumud Mishra as Sachin Sandhu in Thappad

It is rightly saidmdashfathers are daughters' first love. In a society where people consider daughters as liabilities, Sachin Sandhu fought against the world for her daughter, who was in an abusive marriage.

Not giving a damn about what people will say, he motivated Amrita (Taapsee Pannu) to fight for her rights and raise her voice for what's right.

6. Shah Rukh Khan as Dr. Jehangir Khan in Dear Zindagi

What happens when you find a therapist that hits just the right chords of all your feelings without making you feel dumb? SRK, as Dr. Jehangir Khan or Jug made life so simple and easy.

7. Ranveer Singh as Rocky Randhawa in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Why settle for a green flag when you can have the entire forest? Rocky Randhawa was a must-add to the International Men's Day list for various reasons, one being unlearning everything that he thought was normal but in fact was toxic.

Radio City wishes all the men a happy International Men's Day. We're proud of you.
