JNU First Poster: Urvashi Rautela, Ravi Kishan`s Jahangir National University Attracts Criticism

The internet is shaking and quaking, thanks to Urvashi Rautela and Ravi Kishan's Jahangir National University's first poster. The upcoming political drama takes a sharp and deep turn as the makers take you behind the doors of the university, where either pure education or a conspiracy is brewing to break a nation.

Helmed by Vijay Sharma, the first poster for Jahangir National University (JNU) was unveiled on Tuesday, March 12. The film stars Urvashi Rautela, Ravi Kishan, Rashami Desai, Sonnalli Seygall, Piyush Mishra, and Vijay Raaz, among others.

The poster for JNU shows a saffron-colored Indian map held in a hand with a text written on it that reads, "Can one educational university break the nation?"


Popular trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared the poster. His caption read, "JNU FIRST POSTER OUT... 5 APRIL RELEASE... Behind closed walls of education brews a conspiracy to break the nation."

The Sanam Re actress also took to Instagram and shared the poster for her upcoming movie. Sharing the same poster, she wrote, "Behind closed walls of education, there is a conspiracy to break the nation." As the LEFT amp RIGHT collide, who will win this Battle for DOMINATION? Mahakaal Movies Presents #JahangirNationalUniversity IN CINEMAS, April 5, 2024."

This is yet another political drama to release in 2024 after the Yami Gautam-Priya Mani starrer Article 370. The upcoming movie will revolve around the politics going on around the infamous university located in Delhi.

Netizens criticize the Jahangir National University poster

As soon as the poster was shared on Twitter by Taran Adarsh, criticism and reactions started flowing from netizens. While some called it propaganda, others had already declared it a blockbuster.

"Ten years ago, the easiest way to box office was convincing Salman to take his shirt off now it's hiring the same graphic designer for poorly written right-wing propaganda," a comment read.

Another user wrote, "This title and dialogue are so cheap... Cinema is the new medium for spreading hatred." Another tweet read, "People will not fall for these traps they are tired of these propaganda movies. #Disaster."

Several users also pointed out why such political-drama movies are released right before the Lok Sabha elections. A comment said, "Election se pahle all propaganda movies aa rahi he itne din khuch nahi aya ab election he isliye sab aa rahi he."

Amid all the criticism, others praised the maker's vision of narrating the untold story, calling it an upcoming blockbuster.

Jahangir National University will be released on April 5 in cinemas near you.
