Bollywood fights and controversial comments will always be etched in people's minds, even if they are taken off the internet. One of the latest fights on social media that stirred up a huge uproar was between Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga for his film, Animal.
While many loved Animal and it turned out to be a massive blockbuster, Kiran Rao had contrasting views. She spoke about gender sensitization and commented on how women and queer representation, both on and off screen, are widely stereotyped. During a talking session in 2023, she even cited an example of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh.
In a recent interview with Lallantop, the Laapataa Ladies filmmaker said she would like to watch Animal, as action-packed films tend to work more than other genres. She even appreciated Vanga's talent and craft.

In the interview, she was asked about her response to the audience's and critics' reviews of her directorial debut. She said she is overwhelmed, and it is rare for both audiences and critics to see a film. She also stated that while audiences lean more towards high-octane, action-packed entertainers, critics don't always seem to do so. Which is why she was surprised by critics positive reactions to Laapataa Ladies.

"Laapataa Ladies has gotten so much love I am grateful. Even the critics have liked it. When the audience likes a film, it's often not necessary that the critics will. The audience likes action-packed, VFX-heavy films these days," Rao said.
She further added, "Films like Animal. I want to watch the film it's necessary. It has done so well because people have loved it. I've heard that Sandeep Reddy Vanga's craft is really good. Ranbir (Kapoor) is also a good actor. It will be an interesting watch for me people seem to love it.'
Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga feud
It all happened earlier this year when Kiran spoke about gender sensitization at a talk event. She highlighted how filmmakers are encouraging stalking women through movies like Kabir Singh and Baahubali 1.This did not go well with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who hit her back by criticizing some of her ex-husband Aamir Khan's earlier work. He urged her to look at the lyrics from the actor's 1990 release, Dil, which was yet another example of glorifying misogyny.
Reacting to his comments, Kiran Rao said, "I haven't commented on Mr. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's films because I haven't seen them. I have spoken about misogyny and the representation of women on screen on various platforms at various times. But I have never taken the name of any film. It's not really about a specific film."
She further added that she is not responsible for any of Aamir's work, and if Vanga had a problem, he should talk to the actor.
IfMr. Reddy has something to say to Aamir, he should tell him man to man. I am not responsible for Aamir's work or for Aamir Khan. So, I wish Mr. Reddy would address his questions directly to Mr. Khan," the filmmaker concluded.
