Maharashtra witnessed a grand political and star-studded event today as Devendra Fadnavis took the oath as the Chief Minister for the third time. Held at Mumbai's Azad Maidan on December 5, the ceremony showcased a blend of political power and Bollywood glamour. Here's a closer look at the key highlights of the event.
Devendra Fadnavis Becomes CM for the Third Time
Devendra Fadnavis, a senior BJP leader, was unanimously elected by the party's legislative group on Wednesday after successful discussions with Mahayuti allies Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar. This marked a significant moment as Fadnavis reclaimed the chief ministerial position, emphasising the BJP's stronghold in Maharashtra politics.The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance's landslide victory in the recent Maharashtra Assembly Election played a crucial role in this outcome. The alliance secured over 235 seats, with the BJP emerging as the largest party with 132 seats. Shiv Sena and NCP followed with 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by prominent national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers. Senior BJP figures such as JP Nadda and Nitin Gadkari were also present, reinforcing the importance of the event for the party.
However, notable by their absence were leaders from the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar chose to skip the ceremony.

Bollywood Stars Add Glamour to the Event
The ceremony wasn't just a political affair it turned into a star-studded gathering with Bollywood's biggest names in attendance. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan greeted each other warmly with a hug, delighting fans and attendees alike. Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor were also seen engaging, while Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan, accompanied by her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur, added elegance to the event.Other notable celebrities included Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor with boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya, Khushi Kapoor with father Boney Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani was accompanied by his daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant and son Anant Ambani, who were seen interacting with guests before the ceremony.
