Prabhat Roy Health: Bengali Director Rushed To Hospital After Fluid Accumulates In His Chest

Bengali filmmaker and prominent personality Prabhat Roy has been admitted to the hospital after he complained of severe chest pain and a shortage of breath. It turns out that fluid has been accumulating in his chest. He is 79 years old.

On Tuesday, the director was rushed to Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital in Kolkata due to a shortage of breath, chest pain, fluid accumulation in the chest, and high cretanine levels. He was given the necessary treatment and underwent dialysis on Wednesday. He is currently stable.

A team of competent doctors and specialists are closely monitoring Prabhat Roy. The team also includes experts in interventional cardiology, nephrology, critical care, and general medicine.

For the uninitiated, Roy is a triumphant and respected Bengali filmmaker who has time and again redefined regional cinema with his incredible stories. His work has been recognized and traveled to, which has won him two National Awards and BFJA Awards.

After stabilizing his condition, the doctors and medical facilities at the Woodland hospital have released a statement about Prabhat's health.

"A team of doctors comprising Dr. Suresh Choraria (an interventional cardiologist). Dr. Jayanta Basu (nephrologist), Or Susmita Debnath (critical care), and Or Prasun Mitra (general medicine) are keeping a close watch on his health status," read the statement.

Prabhat Roy's wife death

Unfortunately, the filmmaker's wife, Jayashree, passed away in 2022 after being bedridden for six months due to a leg fracture. Despite inserting a metal plate, she suffered septic issues, and complications arose.

Her deteriorating health forced the couple to seek multiple admissions to several hospitals. Prabhat Roy said that his wife was in unbearable pain during her final days. She finally breathed her last on a Thursday.
