Ranbir Kapoor Reveals How His Character In Animal Different From Sandeep Reddy Vanga`s Past Leads

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Animal has already garnered enough and more eyeballs, thanks to Ranbir Kapoor's rugged look and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's phenomenal direction. Animal brings together a stellar cast of Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Tripti Dimri.

What excites us the most is how the filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga is going to set his lead in Animal apart from the rest of his film's protagonists. While he is largely known for remaking South Blockbuster Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor in the lead, only time will tell if Ranbir Kapoor's character possesses similar qualities.

Speaking of character, in a recent interview, the Animal actor opened up about how his character in the upcoming movie is similar yet different from Vanga's past protagonists.

Ranbir Kapoor opens up about his character in Animal

With limited information about its storyline, fans and moviegoers are already intrigued about what Animal has in store for them. While the teaser showcased Ranbir Kapoor in a rugged look, what caught our eye was the thirst-trappy antagonist, Bobby Deol.

In a recent interview with Variety, Ranbir opened up about his character's similarities and differences with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's previous leads.


He said his role does have some similar traits to Reddy's protagonists, as he is tough and uncomplicating. But at the same time, the actor also revealed what sets his character apart.

"However, what sets him apart are the layers of complexity and depth that have been woven into his character. While he may exhibit strength and determination, there are also moments of vulnerability and internal conflict that make him more relatable and human," Ranbir said.

He further added how these qualities add a unique dimension to his character and make it even more refined.

Agreeing to the similarities, Ranbir Kapoor further added, "There are also distinct differences that make him stand out in his own right."

Ranbir Kapoor on what drew him to Animal

In the same interview, the Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar actor revealed what made him say yes to the action drama. While we have seen Ranbir possess a rugged, tough look in Shamshera, the upcoming movie promises to unleash a deeper side to Ranbir as an actor.

Complementing the script, the actor said it was the story that drew him to the headline Animal.


'Well, to be honest, I was really drawn to the script of Animal. It's a unique and intense story that immediately caught my attention,' Ranbir further added.

The actor also added that he found Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh quite powerful, but it was solely the script that influenced his decision to sign the film. Animal marks the first ever collaboration between Ranbir and Vanga.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri in prominent roles. The movie was supposed to release in August however, it got pushed to the end of the year due to some pending post-production work.

Animal is now slated to release on December 1 in cinemas near you.
